Two-layer hybrid data storage architecture
At the access level, performance is optimized through load balancing across all cluster nodes. At the data level, unlimited scalability of active and cold data is ensured while maintaining consistent availability and performance.

ActiveStorage is defined for data that is required at the present moment, while ColdStorage is allocated for data that is infrequently accessed.

    ActiveScale supports an S3-compatible API for easy integration of applications and workflows that support S3 and S3 Glacier, as well as file system volumes accessible via NFS for simple data access and management.

Ensuring availability

  • "On-the-fly" encryption and keyless encryption in standby mode
    To ensure maximum security, encrypt data "on-the-fly" using SSL/TLS and in standby mode with ActiveScale. Encryption is supported for both object data and user metadata in the Active and Cold Storage classes.
  • Immutable object locking
    Prevents their deletion, helping protect against malware and comply with write-once, read-many (WORM) data storage requirements.
  • Deployment of ActiveScale on a single site
    Failure protection of all components is ensured, while metadata, data, and parity are distributed across all compute resources and storage in the cluster. Resources are actively load-balanced to achieve maximum performance.
  • 3Geo - Continuous data availability
    3Geo configurations ensure availability and disaster protection by automatically erasure coding objects across all three sites. Even in the event of a data center failure, the other two sites store all data and parity required to continue servicing all data requests.
  • 2Geo deployment and cloud replication
    ActiveScale also provides one-way and two-way asynchronous replication per bucket between ActiveScale clusters or to public cloud services for data protection, backup, and disaster recovery. Features include the ability to replicate between storage classes and replicate immutable objects with the same storage policy. Additionally, ActiveScale offers the industry's only Glacier-to-Glacier replication capability, providing an affordable, multi-copy solution for tape-based data protection.

    The SystemManagement (SM) web interface allows management of user accounts and access keys, monitoring system status, capacity, and performance, generating reports, configuring notifications, as well as performing updates and expansions. RESTful APIs and a command-line interface are also available for task automation.

    CloudManagement (CM) is a cloud tool that collects telemetry data from ActiveScale systems to generate standard and custom reports. Its functionality includes basic management, historical trends, bandwidth and usage modeling, helping to make proactive decisions
